Race, Justice, and the Legal System
1.50 Attorney Professional Conduct Hours (pending approval)

Against the backdrop of the killing of George Floyd, failure to indict the officers for the killing of Breonna Taylor, and racial disparities in sentencing, our panel of experts will have a candid discussion regarding racial and gender bias in the justice system from a variety of perspectives, including judges, policy experts and litigants. Join us for a virtual exploration of how race and gender impact every part of the justice process, and a challenging dialogue on how to combat inherent bias in the system.

Our esteemed panel includes Judge Laurel Beatty Blunt, Judge Karen Phipps, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Grey, Kirwan Institute Senior Research Associate Kelly Capatosto, Kirwan Institute Senior Legal Analyst & Special Assistant to the Director Kyle Strickland, and moderator Jennifer A.L. Battle.
