Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Inc. (LAWO), a non-profit law firm that provides free legal help in civil legal matters to eligible individuals and groups in western Ohio, seeks an attorney for our Veterans Project. The position will be located in LAWO’s Dayton office.
LAWO’s Veterans Project represents Veterans in a variety of issues, including housing, debt collection defense, and other advocacy efforts to prevent homelessness and improve stability. The project works closely with community-based partners.
Excellent legal and communication skills; experience with computer software and Microsoft Office; ability to relate well with people living in poverty; and commitment to legal services required. Previous experience representing Veterans or in poverty law in general is highly preferred. Remote work is likely; however, court appearances are required. Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish is helpful. Membership in Ohio Bar or ability to be admitted by motion or temporary certification is required.
