Leadership Institute

Rainmaking - "Excellent - thought-provoking sessions."

Executive Coaching, Branding & Career Strategy -"The assessments - all of them allowed me to see more clearly the areas in which I need/want to improve and identify steps to get there."

Public Speaking - "As uncomfortable as the process was, I am looking forward to hearing more of the feedback, and appreciate the feedback already given.  Public speaking is never comfortable, at least for me, but a necessary skill and practice really helps."

Effective Communication Techniques - "This was my favorite session.  Great panel!"

The Leadership Institute is a program of the Ohio Women’s Bar Foundation. It was created by top women leaders in Ohio to assist women lawyers in developing their leadership skills. The Leadership Institute is very proud of the notable women leaders serving on our Advisory Committee.

Why a Leadership Institute for Women?
Oftentimes, law firms and corporations do not invest money in leadership training for attorneys. Even if the firm or corporation does provide leadership training, such training is unlikely to focus on the particular challenges that women face on their career path. The Leadership Institute is designed to lend a hand and to help women who are emerging leaders with practical knowledge and strategies on business development so as to attain significant leadership roles.

Our Mission
The mission of the Leadership Institute is to advance inclusiveness within the legal profession and supplement the professional skills of women lawyers by enhancing their leadership, business development, and communication skills for the benefit of the diverse communities in which they work, live, and serve.

Diversity Scholarship
We are also pleased to offer a Leadership Institute Tuition Scholarship to promote Diversity and Inclusion by Marilyn McClure-Demers. This scholarship is intended for an individual that brings a unique perspective to the practice of law as a result of their diverse background, which is defined by race, ethnicity, religious background, disability, geographic location, and/or professional segment of practice. The scholarship will offer full tuition to a qualified candidate of diverse background, and ensure the participation of a woman lawyer who may otherwise not had the ability to participate. This may include government lawyers, solo-practitioners, minorities, and members of other under-represented groups.

If you would like to be considered for these Diversity Scholarship's you may do so by attaching a personal statement to your Leadership Institute Application answering (1) how you promote diversity and inclusion in your practice, (2) the diverse perspective you would bring to the Leadership Institute and (3) what your financial need is.
